MUMBAI: Even as superstar
Amitabh Bachchan urged the Indian film industry to change its
attitude to make further inroads globally, the Federation of
Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Ficci) and the
International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) announced holding a
Global Business Forum in Amsterdam.
The Amsterdam forum is scheduled to
be held from 9-11 June 2005 and is slated to be inaugurated by
the Prime Minister of Netherlands.

Mumbai: Inaugurating Frames
2005, the annual conference on entertainment organised by
industry body Ficci, Union information and broadcasting minister
S. Jaipal Reddy made several policy announcements that were
welcomed by various segments of the entertainment industry.
The best news was for the radio
industry, within which the private players are labouring under
heavy licence fees. Reddy said the radio policy would be
liberalised shortly.

Pirated VCDs come from outside

TUESDAY, 16 JULY,
2002 :
About 90 per cent of the pirated video compact discs (VCDs) of
films in the city come from illegal units based in neighbouring
states.
A unit each in
Kondli, near Harayana and Bhiwadi in Rajasthan are allegedly
being run under the patronage of influential people. Illegal
units in Gorakhpur and Tanakpur, near Nepal border, are also
suspected to be supplying pirated VCDs in the city.
